About Me
Hi there! My name is Kenzington and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), as well as a Clinical Supervisor. I am the primary therapist and owner of Authenticity Counseling and Wellness.
As a therapist, my strengths are in building an environment of safety, trust, and compassion. I value showing up authentically in session, as I hope my clients will feel safe to do as well. For me, showing up authentically as a therapist means allowing myself to feel genuine compassion and care for my clients, to explore with curiosity, and to allow humor to flow freely when it’s needed and appropriate. I am not a stuffy “blank slate” therapist, and I value the dynamic exchange that occurs in-session, while still prioritizing the session as my client’s time and space, with the intent to serve my client’s needs.
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and I value continuing education to improve myself as a therapist. A few areas of additional training I have pursued include Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR (an EMDRIA approved 50 hours training), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, various trauma and EMDR workshops, diversity and inclusivity, Gottman Level 1 Couples Counseling, and Discernment Counseling. My graduate school research and workshop presentations focused on Faith Transitions, and this is an area of special interest to me.
In my personal life, I was born and raised in Idaho’s Treasure Valley and I’ve recently relocated to the suburbs outside of Washington DC, in northern Virginia. In my free time, I enjoy catching a movie with sour candy and popcorn in hand, going for long evening walks, practicing yoga, and laughing to the point of tears with loved ones.
I am here to help you reclaim your authentic self. Through therapy, we can work together to overcome pain, stuck points, deep wounds, and trauma, in order to find acceptance and create a meaningful life. You don't have to face your challenges alone - I am here to support you every step of the way. Please reach out and we will get in touch.
